Are you interested in knowing how the team members of Diet Doctor enjoy low carb on typical days? Then look no further – here are our personal favorites.

We are currently 12 people working full time here on Diet Doctor. All of us with different backgrounds – we are doctors, nurses, biologists, engineers and journalists etc. The thing that connects us is that we share a great interest in health. All of us with our own reason for starting low carb – some of us wanted to lose weight while others saw it as an interesting experiment after reading about it.

Some of us are strict keto and others are eating a more liberal version of low carb. So what’s right for you? Only you can decide that. We aim to provide information, knowledge and recipes to empower you regardless of where your health journey is taking you.

Even though the 12 of us probably do it in 12 different ways, we all agree that this way of eating has had great impact on our over all health. Prior to writing this I asked my co-workers what their best experience had been and the answers I got was calmer stomachs, no more skin problems such as eczema, fewer headaches, more energy, weight loss and weight stability. One team member describes it like this:

The best thing about the ketogenic diet? There are numerous things – a sense of calm, a much less irritated gut, dewing skin, zero cravings and a healthier body composition.

Breakfast favorites

Breakfast is a meal that some of us choose to skip, at least on busy weekdays, simply because we aren’t hungry. Others want to start every day with a nice meal. On weekends most of us enjoy a nice brunch with bacon, eggs and maybe some pancakes. How do you feel about breakfast and what’s your favorite?

    Hi - I have just had a thought. I had an Asian visitor whose favorite dish was seaweed. Very healthy for her and I can't find any info on it on your pages. But, it tastes quite bland, and in strips reminded me of pasta. Now that could become a substitute for pasta especially for carbonara-type dishes. It comes dried in Asian food stores, and you soak it for about a half hour before cooking, which is really just heating it up and stirring it in with whatever you are cooking.

    A quick cucumber salad dressing is chopped cucumber, parsley or basil, mixed with dollops of greek yogurt which I prepare in advance and put in the fridge to last a few days. I will also chop cucumber for the side serve and add a dollop of greek yogurt to make it more interesting in place of sour cream, for example.

    Please, please can you explore some more bread or bread-like options. I would really like something I can put in the freezer and pull out, like sandwiches, to add spreads, for lunches. Perhaps you could have an "on the go" section, in your recipes - ideas that take a max of 5mins to create, and also ideas that can go into a lunchbox that can be prepared on-the go. I personally have found a few bought dips can be quite low carb and are nice as a little spread on salad in lunch boxes, rather than mayonaisse all the time. You get what I mean. Then there is travelling - I am going to be travelling for 3 days in a car and want to be able to take pre-prepared food, that can be frozen or stored in an esky. An "on the go" section could perhaps put all these ideas together. Thanks for your consideration with this.

    Another suggestion for your page (or maybe your facebook page) is to have a list of products that can be bought which fulfil the LCHF requirements, because not all of us (especially new to this) can just switch instantly to the whole thing even though we want to. Other members of the family might not want to join you, time constraints with busy work schedule etc. I would love a place where we in other countries (I am Australian) could share brands/products- example, I found a Tartare sauce in our supermarket with <3 carb and no sugar which I love. Is there a medium by which we can share some of our surprises/finds?

    I also reacquainted myself with "black pudding" something I remember from childhood and loved but it is such a refreshing change for breakfast, from bacon and eggs - I soon tire of bacon, but don't tire of this, and it is just as quick/easy to cook.

    A list of names of foods by what other countries call them (example alfalfa sprouts is lucerne in some places). with their comparison carbs alongside (in alphabetical order) and measures in metric with all recipes, would be a big help. There are a lot of foods in USA that we just don't see in Aus or know by those names, so a pic might even help. Thanks for such an informative website. I love it and am really inspired by it.

    I'd want a low-to-none cruciferous vegetables and low-cost foods (forget the asparagus...) for my low carb menu.
