Ingredients

  • 8 oz. 230 g deli roast beef, rolled
  • 5 oz. (1¼ cups) 140 g (290 ml) cheddar cheese, cut in finger-like slices
  • 1 (7 oz.) 1 (200 g) avocado, slicedavocados, sliced
  • 6 6 radish, slicedradishes, sliced
  • 1 (½ oz.) 1 (15 g) scallion, cut on an anglescallions, cut on an angle
  • 4 tbsp 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 oz. (1½ cups) 55 g (350 ml) lettuce
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the roast beef, cheese, avocado, scallion, and radishes on a plate.
  2. Serve with lettuce, olive oil, mustard, and a hearty dollop of mayonnaise.

    I am not a fan of raw onions and raw radishes. But, I heard that radishes are a good keto substitute for potatoes. So, I sliced the radishes and scallion, then sauteed them in butter. That was good!

    In this plate, the avocado helps bring higher fat content, so look for something that will add fats like macadamia nuts or olives.

    Just starting out - first meal - easy. I used turkey instead of beef and sour cream instead of mayo. Placed it on my carb counter and it still worked out. Easy, would have it again.

    I have an avocado allergy, do you have a page that talks about good substitutes for avocado in recipes? Like in this one I think I could trade out for nuts but in others I am unsure. I can figure out solutions if I had a place that talked about useful substitutes. Like if it was used to add creaminess to a dish, or if it is just an addition like it is in this recipe. I also wish there was a place to communicate with authorities on this site. I think you need to do some serious CX on this site to see what customers want to help direct what is important to your community.

    Hi DD, I love and need strong-tasting morning coffee. My usual, a mix of decaf and strong is made in espresso pot or percolator. I add one part unsweetened almond milk and 2 parts Silk (tm) Almond For Coffee, which has no carbs by Silk. Is this ‘legal’ for the keto diet..... If not do I have to use a sugar substitute and more almond milk? Or something tastier?
