Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Trim and cut the Brussels sprouts in half and place them in a baking dish. Add oil and salt and pepper. Stir and bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes, depending on the size.
- Meanwhile, make the patties. Shred the onion coarsely or chop finely. Place in a bowl and add the ground meat and spices. Mix well and form one large patty (or two smaller 'sliders') per serving.
- Fry the patties in butter for 5-10 minutes on each side. Turn a couple of times, until thoroughly cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside for later.
- Slice the onion for the gravy finely and carefully sauté in butter, in the same pan as the patties, until golden. Pour in the cream and let simmer for a few minutes, until it thickens slightly. Salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the patties back in the pan with the gravy. Serve the patties warm with roasted Brussels sprouts.
Tip!
This recipe is very versatile. Make it you own by using different types of ground meat or poultry and add any combination of spices or herbs that you like. The options are endless here, and you’ll love all of them!
No, not yet. :)
I cook different veggies, Broccoli, Asparagus etc. Anything goes well with the meat and the "gravy".
I usually use 2 tablespoons of butter to precook the chopped onions prior to mixing with the meat and spices. Then divide into patties.
Then cook the patties to medium in the same pan.
Remove meat, leaving all the juices, add another TBSP butter and glaze the sliced onions. Add the Heavy cream plus salt and pepper that turns a nice brown gravy color, return the meat to the pan and finish cooking.
Fantastic tasting gravy that tastes good on anything. I like to dip the veggies in it.
That is for one whole serving of the burger and the vegetables. If you need a lower carb count you can use a lower carb vegetable or fewer brussels sprouts.
