Kristie's tips

You can also bake these in mini-muffin tins or regular muffins for portion control and to get a nice crisp finish on all of the edges.

You can serve them with other traditional burger toppings such as shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, pickles, mustard, or mayonnaise.

We also enjoy them with a dollop of homemade Ranch dressing.

Hi I been wanting to make some of your recipes for a while. I'm strict keto so we don't don't use the phrase "net carbs" we instead use "total carbs" can you tell me a technique I can use to get the total carbs in your recipes.

    Thanks,

    Tanya Owens

To get the total carbs, take the carb number and the fiber number in the Nutrition+ tab and add them together.

Can i substitute Ground beef for Turkey meat ?

Ground turkey doesn't always substitute well as it is lower fat.

Are rolled oats, keffia and lactose free milk OK for Keto diet??
  16. Kristin Parker Team Diet Doctor
Generallt, no. They all tend to be too high carb. You can read more about the keto diet and what foods are a good option here - https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/guides

    Yes, you can freeze these.

I got excited about this recipe until I saw you have to cook the meat twice...can you not just mix the raw beef into everything else and then bake it once to a safe temp? I hate frying everything and the extra dirty dishes of cooking twice...

I enjoyed this, and my non-keto family members did too.

since the recipe calls for draining the meat/onion mixture, which is the process of browning, I don't think I would try just adding the raw meat into a pan and adding the ingredients. You'd probably have a lot of excess grease as well as an odd look to the dish, probably not too appetizing. Just my .2 cents

To add to my April 16 comment, I have found through experimentation that my non-keto eaters preferred this without the mayo. So now I leave it out. Anyone who wants mayo can add it to their individual portion after cooking.

Hi, do you think this would work if I left out the egg/mayo (egg allergy) is the cheese enough to stick it together? was thinking of trying the muffin tin version. Thanks

It may work but we have not tested it. Without the mayo, it may be very dry in texture.

    Hi Kristie,

This is another recipe that will need some tweaks with the measurements when it comes to the cheeses... what is 60ml of parmesan, 40 ml of mozzarella, and 30ml of onions?

    Cheers!
