What kind of guidance can you give to professionals such as myself. I am an executive advisor/consultant and thus travel 4-5 days a week and do not have access to cook for myself.

I do not desire to lose weight. I am already a thin person. I do however have a number of health problems ie. Cancer plus and malfunctioning valves on my heart. I am a sugar junkie so I know I need to eat better. Will this diet make me lose more weight because I need to gain not loose.

I am lactose intolerant and I noticed most of the recipes have milk products in them. There was even one that was supposedly dairy free and the second or third ingredient was heavy cream. That I don’t understand

I have stage four liver disease and Diabetes 2. I am on Januva. I am over weight and need to lose 40 lbs. Will this wok for me? My doctor is 1 1/2 hours away from me so I cannot go all the time.

Yes just do it. Cut out the white stuff and up your fats (just not trans fats or omega 6 oils) and you will improve overnight.

Hi Diane, Did you find an answer to this question? I'm also a skinny person seeking to optimize my diet without weight loss and it drives me nuts that the entire world is obsessed with losing body fat.

I just like to lose 15 lbs. I tried Keto. The problem is that the food is so great. What you don’t understand is that people who have diet all their lives and eat emotionally are scared of all that good stuff and don’t know what “ stop when you are full “ means or feels like. Counseling ??? Please!! We have done it. I know it works....my son lost 35 lbs and my niece 57....They say keep it simple....no fancy recipes.

I have read in fitness sites that a very restrictive carbohydrate diet, if followed too much time can cause insulin resistence. What about that??

Alexg, Low carb and keto are about optimizing health. Weight loss is a pleasant side effect for people who are overweight. If you are not overweight, your body should not continue to drop pounds. If you find that you are losing more weight than you want, you can increase vegetable carbs or increase protein or portion size.

Angela, eating low carb does not cause insulin resistance. Consistently high insulin, which happens when we eat high carb and have high blood sugar, is what causes insulin resistance. Here is a good article from Dr Jason Fung.

Help! I seem to have raging diarrhea with almost 5 different sugar alcohols. Includes: xylitol, swerve, erythritol, stevia, durkin gold. Am afraid to walk my dog, go to the grocery store etc. This is 3-4 times a day, therefore, 3-4 showers pr. day. Can't make it 10 feet to my bathroom........obviously, trying to avoid all sugar substitutes now. Is one of these a bigger culprit than another? Am afraid to test each one as I do not want to become more housebound. Am on low carb Keto diet with 2 days a week of fasting. Started Sept 16th, have lost 28 lbs. and am no longer in the range for diabetes. I do not know of a Doctor locally that will support my efforts.....my current Dr. just wanted me to go on medications. She knows nothing about Keto. Dropped my A1C by one point in 90 days: now is 5.7 from 6.6.; Cholesterol was: 243 now 218; triglycerides 110 now was 126; blood pressure: was 140/86 now 112/72. So I am a big Keto fan. Can you help me on the sugar issue?

Hey Kristin, I've been hoping to solve a blood sugar mystery but have been unsuccessful at uncovering clues anywhere. I've been doing the keto diet and IF (intermittent fasting) for about 1 month now. I currently eat either 2 regular or 1 large meal p/day within a 6-hour 'eating window'. My question is, after the recent purchase of a glucose/ketone monitor, my FBS (fasting blood sugar) is consistently high (130-135 mg/dL). A recent blood panel meanwhile (pre-fast/keto diet) showed my HbA1c to be 5.5 (low)... any idea what's happening?!?

A higher fasting blood sugar is not uncommon when eating keto. You can read more about it here.
    https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/fasting-blood-glucose-higher

To bring that number down, try a small protein snack at bedtime like nuts or cheese. If you are on any medication, check with your doctor about any potential dosage adjustments that may need to be made.

Hi there. On day 2 of 2 week challenge and want to keep track of my meals each day, total water intake, weight changes, and any special notes I may want to record. Do you have a record sheet already made up that I can use?

We do not, as there are numerous apps and websites that provide that function.
