When Dr. Kevin Gendreau’s sister was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, his own weight had reached 300 lbs. Shocked by the discovery of his sister’s illness, Dr. Gendreau was forced to turn to his own health conditions of obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, plantar fasciitis and fatty liver disease. He knew he had to do something.
He started out on a low carb, whole food diet and when his weight loss hit a plateau, Dr. Jason Fung‘s book The Obesity Code gave him the knowledge he needed to implement intermittent fasting, too. He has now lost 125 lbs and has begun recommending his routine to his diabetic and pre-diabetic patients. He reported to People Magazine that once he had made the “black-and-white decision to stop being unhealthy, everything else just fell into place”.
He uploaded the following image to his Instagram profile as inspiration to others who suffer from overweight and ill health.
Congratulations to Dr. Gendreau for this incredible and inspiring success story, and for helping his patients achieve the same fantastic results.
"The new regime centered around very specific foods including fruits, vegetables, nuts, chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, non-fat Greek yogurt, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and non caloric spices and seasoning."
I mean, non-fat yogurt? Chicken? Turkey? No beef? No butter?
Love to know his secret have been on the same plateau for 3 months with constantly trying different methods need to lose 10 more ponds ..scale not moving at all.
I don't think he’s LCHF (non-fat Greek yogurt?) so why post this story? He’s just drastically reduced his calorie intake, in the old-fashioned way. My prediction is that it will prove unsustainable, in the old-fashioned way. It perpetuates the myth of low fat good, high fat bad, and does nothing to promote LCHF.
It's still low carb whether he eats beef or butter or not. The whole point of LC is the low carbs, not any other foods.
I'm not sure he's low carb:

Ellen, when that happened to me (for over a year!) I increased protein, lowered carbs even further, lowered fat somewhat and cut out having a glass or two of wine (or any other alcohol). That's when things started moving again. Try out a few things that you think could work for you. Many cut out dairy, as well (I have a sensitivity that started later in life, so it's off the menu for good) All the best.
So he is lower carb, not 20g. DietDoctor provides moderate LC plans too.
He is very clear that all cookies, bread, pasta and all refined processed carbs go. He and his brother are inspiring success stories for eating lower carb, real foods while dealing with tragedy , and then adding IF (he eats noon-8pm only) to break a plateau.

Wait, wait... I thought this website promoted LC *HF*
Oh, my bad.
