Can a keto diet help treat eczema?
Eczema, rashes, and itchy skin plague many people these days. But can a keto diet help treat these conditions? While there is not strong scientific evidence in this area, success stories are certainly encouraging.
For May, a Diet Doctor member, eating low carb is what helped her daughter to finally find relief from eczema, a skin condition that’s commonly found in children, which makes your skin red, itchy, and irritated.
Here, May shares how eating keto helped her daughter’s skin to clear up after years of discomfort.
How keto helped May’s daughter
Dear Diet Doctor,
My daughter’s eczema had been bothering her for a long time. We tried all sorts of treatments: Western medicine, osteopathy, homeopathy, direct selling products, and more. Unfortunately, none of these worked in helping her skin condition.
In an attempt to try and clear up her skin, I decided to let her start following a keto diet together with me. Amazingly, her skin became less itchy and gradually healed. Not only did the rashes on her hand improve, but so did the flares on her neck, leg, and face.
When I shared our experience on Facebook, I received plenty of replies from parents whose children are facing similar skin issues. It is my hope that by sharing my daughter’s story with Diet Doctors readers, others with eczema, and especially young children, will feel empowered to try keto and could potentially benefit.
We’re thankful to Diet Doctor for providing so much keto knowledge to the public. I’m a Diet Doctor member and will continue supporting Diet Doctor in the future.
May from Malaysia
Hi May. Thank you for sharing your story about your daughter’s eczema. That is fantastic to hear. Perhaps her message will inspire others to clear their skin and improve their metabolic along the way!
