Cholesterol on keto – Dave Feldman
What happens to cholesterol levels on a keto diet? Can weight loss cause increased LDL cholesterol levels? Can resistance training lower LDL cholesterol?
Dave Feldman has carried out a number of extremely ambitious n=1 experiments and measured what happened to his cholesterol profile. In this presentation from the Low Carb Denver 2019 conference, he talks about his experiments and the sometimes surprising results.
This is our #15 published presentation from the Low Carb Denver conference. Find all the earlier ones here.

Dave Feldman: I hypothesize, when you make your muscles sore they consume LDL particles for repair and growth. You need more cell membranes to make more cells or to repair the ones that already have a problem.
So, I see a lot of studies like this one for example, we’re sure not there’s a lot of resistance training, if there’s a lot of potential for micro terra’s and so forth, you happen to see LDL tends to go down, and that’s why I decided to structure this experiment.

Really Claire
I do clean Keto.No processed foods/meats.
NOBODY can say I was noncompliant.
I've never had labs that were out of normal range until now. Very discouraged now. I have fatty liver too. I wonder if the process of healing my liver could dump the excess fat into my blood???
I dunno. It's got to go somewhere right?
No clear guidance coming from anywhere about this uncommon outcome.
My Dr wanted me to start taking my statins an fenofribrate again. Stopped taking them 1 month before labs. I decided to wait till my next labs in 3 months to see were I’m at.
Trying to do Strick clean keto to see if it makes a difference.
If anyone has any suggestions on ‘this please comment.
It sounds like buckling down to strict keto may well help!

Thank you!
I’ve been at a stable goal weight for about 6 months now and have increased my veggies and fibre intake. Hoping my chol readings will be back down at my next physical
I went to my GP wanting a test after my last one 2 months ago. They would not do it ?
The nurse said I would see no changes ?:(
In NZ we go to Dr to arrange blood tests and then we here the results and can ask for a copy. Is this what everyone is doing or is their a kit you can buy?
That is standard in the USA as well. The doctor orders the tests and then you can ask the lab or the doctor for a copy.
