Here are new fantastic stories from people who’ve taken the challenge:
Dr Eenfeldt and team,
What did we (my husband Geoff and I) think of the LCHF diet challenge?
We are both in our early 50’s and living in sunny Melbourne, Australia. We came across the reference to this style of eating when discussing the need to drop a bit of excess weight, particularly wanting to lose any visceral fat that we are carrying. In googling how to follow this eating style we came across the Diet Doctor website and your 2-week challenge. Figured it couldn’t hurt so why not give it a try.
Some things that I loved right from the time I signed up was the full menu for the week together with a comprehensive shopping list. This basically made eating a “no-brainer” exercise, everything was laid out for us. Cooking double quantities of food for dinner to accommodate the next day’s lunch again simplified things enormously.
The food is amazingly delicious and the recipes easy to follow, with one minor problem to overcome. After years and years of being brainwashed into being sparing with the amount of fat that we use in our cooking, it was a real hurdle to overcome that it was acceptable, that it was right, to cook with butter! (and a lot of butter!).
The change to this way of eating has been relatively painless. The meals have been filling and surprisingly carry us from breakfast to lunch, lunch to dinner and from dinner through to breakfast without our feeling hungry. There has been very little temptation to snack between meals, and only occasionally have indulged in a handful of peanuts, more out of habit than anything else.
Scrambled eggs for breakfast every day grew old for me very quickly, I made them more interesting by using garlic butter and adding parmesan cheese to the recipe. I also went diving into the recipe section of the website to find interesting alternatives. The pancakes with berries and whipped cream! Let’s just say they will be on regular rotation as a weekend breakfast. The highly processed carbohydrate-rich foods still currently in my pantry are now labeled as “not food” and that is the thought that I bring to mind when out and about and I come across them in my day to day living. This has been the easiest diet to stick to that I have ever come across. Giving up pasta, rice, bread, and junk food has been so much easier than we expected. The rich filling recipes make it feel like no sacrifice at all.
We are both feeling more alert and happier with this style of eating. The fact that both of us have managed to drop 3.5 kilos (8 lbs) each in the first two weeks seems like an added bonus.
I can’t see us reverting back to a diet high in carbs.
Thank you for making this way of eating understandable (I have been loving watching all the videos) and so very easy to follow.
My name is Annette, I’m 28 years old and I’m from Costa Rica!
I am extremely happy with this new lifestyle! I have PCOS, and type 2 diabetes, so losing weight with regular diets has been impossible, even when restricting a lot. With the keto diet, I’ve lost 10 pounds (4.5 kg) in two weeks so far and was able to take my blood sugar levels to normal levels in just A WEEK (with no medication). This is changing my life!
I live in Greece, I am 47 and about 85 kg (187 lbs). I started the program mainly to calm my bowel. I had arrived to a point when even gluten-free products caused irritation, bloating and diarrhea. Weight loss is also a goal. During the first week, all IBS symptoms disappeared. I experienced mild constipation and adapted some recipes to include more broccoli and it helped. I preferred to skip breakfast and adopted 16:8 fasting.
The food is delicious. I enjoy cooking and many of the recipes (ex. Thai fish) are now a favorite of my family too. I lost about 3 kg (7 lbs). I did not have severe keto flu symptoms, only some headaches, and mild constipation. The biggest challenge is now that I am traveling for business for 3 days. I have studied the dining-out guide and hopefully, it will work.
What I also love is the metric measures and the possibility to make the recipe for 1 or more servings. This is truly flexible as some of the recipes are OK for me but not the kids while I prepare others for all of us.
I’m 63 years old and live in the great state of Wisconsin. I’ve tried hundreds of ways to lose weight, from supplements to Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach Diet, Nutrisystem and Diet Centers of America. The only thing I haven’t done is surgery. With these other diets, I was hungry all the time, and after the first week or two, I’d stop. I have tried Phen-fen back in the day, and lost a lot of weight, but they took it off the market. I lost the most weight with HCG diet, but gained it all back very quickly when I stopped it.
As the last years have gone by, my weight has increased and I’m sick and tired of being overweight, having trouble with my back, knees, and feet. I also have Lupus, so I also have inflammation in my joints. My rheumatologist told me to stop eating sugar because it’s poison and causes inflammation. So I started doing research on that and tried to cut out sugar. I failed. I tried to cut back on calories and sugar but just kept failing. Then I stumbled on Dietdoctor.com. I was intrigued by taking the 2-week challenge on a ketogenic diet. My husband and I did it together. To my surprise, we were never hungry!! In fact, there were days I’d forget to eat lunch!I am happy to say I lost 9 lbs (4 kg) in these first 2 weeks! My husband is not overweight but has brain fog and no energy. He states he feels better as well. We are going to continue and we thank your site for the wonderful videos and all the testimonies, and mostly for making it so easy by providing meal plans and recipes!! I particularly am thankful for the video on sugar addiction! Boy, did that hit home! I can honestly say I don’t crave sugar anymore and I’m so motivated to continue to lose this excess weight once and for all!
I’m a 67-year-old married woman living in Portugal having moved here, from the UK, several years ago.
I was having problems, at the beginning of this year, breathing whilst exercising and felt permanently bloated. My Doctor sent me for scans and heart tests but nothing untoward was found. Twenty years ago I developed a wheat intolerance and cut it out totally for around 6 months. I felt the same this time. I keep active with Zumba, swimming, and dog walking.
My daughter-in-law told me about the Keto way of eating and I was immediately interested. I cook virtually all our meals from scratch and love trying new recipes. We have always enjoyed our food and eaten healthily, or so I thought. I don’t have a huge amount of weight to lose. I’m currently ten pounds (4.5 kg) away from my happy weight.
Loved the two-week challenge although I did swap a lot of the recipes. I’m not a fan leftovers for lunch the next day and prefer coffee and cream for breakfast then a cooked lunch and dinner.
We have been really impressed with the quality, and taste, of the recipes on your site. I’ve now become a member on a month’s free trial and can’t see me canceling any time soon.
Thank you for everything you post for free. After two weeks I’m feeling so much better and have lost a couple of kilos. We are not hungry and don’t miss bread, potatoes, rice or pasta.
Again, thank you.
