Love this video! “Everything in moderation” is the line we got from our family when we told them that we’ve switched to LCHF even though I’m not sure they knew what they really meant…

    My cuestion is: What happens if you eat more grams of fat that you suposed to ingest per day? Do you gain weight?

    The trick to a low carb, high fat diet (LCHF) is that it acts as a natural stop gap for over eating. If you keep your carbs low (for example I target 25 grams or less), and keep protein moderate (like 0.8 grams per kg of lean body mass), then the rest is all fat. My fat intake gets in the 80% range. So, it's difficult for me to overeat...because I just don't feel hungry. Some people say that they overeat anyway...but, when I investigate further, they tell me that they snack on things like nuts. Nuts have lots of carbs...so, they are not overeating on fat, they are overeating on carbs, which stimulates their appetite. If I ate my meal, as much as I want, in the proper LCHF proportions, I won't overeat fat...it's not like I am going to eat a stick of butter after having an LCHF meal.

    Ok, but I have been eating for several years -I have lost count- gluten free and ingesting twice my body weight in lean animal protein, that without counting fruits and vegetables. My hobby is long distance running, meaning I go for a run 5 times a week, running 10k or more if I feel like it (once a week I can run 19k). This have work out for me, but watching the Sami Inniken documentary (Cereal Killers 2: Run on Fat) Im willing to try this type of diet.
    The thing is I cannot eat bacon or any salty meat without vomiting or having nasty headaches, so I made a meal plan where I could eat turkey, chicken, eggs and turkey ham with a lot of mayo and butter in my salads, or choose a dish made of cheese or nuts with some fresh vegetables, plus drink three teas with heavy cream per day. In order to do this, I create a meal acount in Fatsecret where every meal per day througs numbers that point me out that I tend to over eat fat. I can keep my protein between 37-55 grams per body weight and my carbs in the proportion 20-50grams of carbs per day. Therefore, I assume that I would gain weight.
    If I limit my amount of protein and fats I wont get satiated, since I would have to forget putting coconut oil, olive oil, mayo or butter in my salads and eat once a day my source of animal protein: for lunch 30 grams of cheese or a boiled egg with a salad on the side and for dinner 100gr or less of a chicken breast with a salad, forget any fun dressing or any flax seed or almond flour homemade bread.

    First, there is no reason to eat bacon unless you really like it. There are lots of alternative kind of meat. I mostly eat minced meat myself, high in fat. You can make meat balls, meat sauce, or meatloaf. Or choose any other kind of meat that you like. Eggs are good, ham and chicken is okay, but then you need to add more fat.

    Second, if you want to try LCHF you probably shouldn't use Fatsecret for finding out the amount of fat you need. Looking at the recipes fat seems to be "not desirable" according to that site.

    The "calories in, calories out" model is not a working model for how people use energy. If it was, every single person would react in the same way to cutting calories in their diet. They would lose the same amount of weight with the same starting position. But we all know that this is not the case.

    If you are afraid you will gain weight on LCHF, you should probably skip cream and cheese. Some people feel that these dairy products make it harder to lose weight, or that they even contribute to an increased weight. You can probably find advice about this here at dietdoctor.com.
