“LCHF saved me!”

Before and now

Before and now

I received an email from Amanda, who is on a massive weight-loss journey with low-carb. Here’s her story:

The Email

Someone directed me to your website from a LCHF Facebook group I’m a member of. I started low carb in November of last year at 364 pounds (165 kg). I’m 5’10” (178 cm).

Now I’m at 255 lbs (115 kg). Went from a size 24 to a 12/14. I still have a long way to go but my progress thus far amazes me.

I’ve always been a yoyo dieter. I also bought into the low-fat fad and didn’t realize I was gaining weight (I feared scales).

Anyhow, I’m attaching some photos of before, during, and now. As I said, I have a long way to go but I’m appreciative of a doctor supporting a way of eating that actually works.

Although I’ve never had many legitimate health problems that are weight related, my blood pressure now runs on the low side and my heart rate runs in the 50s and 60s rather than the 90s.

Wow. This is a fantastic start to your journey Amanda. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

congratulations. keep it up. now it is going to be a little more difficult when the motivation we have at the beginning fades a little.
    excellent change.
  12. Nan
Amanda, you must feel like a new person, especially in your ability to move, bend, etc. What a stellar accomplishment! What a difference; I'm sure it took some real courage to share the beginning photo. You will inspire many people.

  13. Dave
Amazing work and story....Good luck with your journey.
  14. Caitlin
Her skin looks to be in great condition too! It seems to be nearly bouncing right back. Way to go and keep it up!
  15. Christine Oz
I am very proud and happy that she is losing like this, but I question the weight/sizes.

I know I am 5'9" and weigh 238 and carry weight similarly... and wear a size 22/24 now. I cannot even imagine a 12/14 at this time.

Keep going Amanda, whatever the weight and sizes, you are doing wonderfully well! Such a success story. Keep going until you get to your goal.

Amanda, happy tears for you rolling down my face. Beyond inspiring! You. Are. Doing. This. & You. Will. Succeed. Congratulations and looking forward to seeing future updates.

We LCHFers eat like our primal, ancient and 100 yr old ancestors (like my grandmother who lived until 108!) who survived and flourished, and NOT our relatives and friends who are eating processed, nutrient-deficient "food", dying obese,
    hungry and miserable,
and suffering from the ravages of metabolic syndrome and man-made diseases.

Seems like a no-brainer to go LCHF but then again BIG FOOD has diabolically highjacked our food supply so that the average consumer's brain doesn't work at all.

Again, wishing you all the best Amanda.

Way to go Amanda!!! YOU ROCK!!!

Something's wrong with the "after" photo of Amanda on top of the page. She didn't look like she weighed 255 or even 155. Maybe the lower photo was the 255 pounder.
  20. Marcella
Way to go girl!!! You have such courage to share your pictures with us. Best wishes to you on the rest of your journey.
  21. Liz
Seriously well done Amanda and I take my hat off to you for being so brave as to share your "before" photos!! You will be an inspiration to many I am sure, and I hope you are enjoying the way you eat now to be able to continue this for the rest of your life. xxx

Amanda, you are an inspiration! well done and keep at it. I have five Kgs to loose and loose a kg a week dong LCHF which is so much easier for me than all the low fat diets I have done of the yrs - and never maintained. This is the only eating plan that works for me ....no sugar or carbs!
    Keep it up

This is fantastic! I love how you gave this is a go instead of resorting to surgery. What an amazing result.
May I please kindly ask you something? I've watched tv shows where people have opted for surgery and then found they had an abundance of extra skin to deal with. Some are lucky enough to follow up with more surgery for this. When losing weight naturally with a LCHF diet, does the skin fall better into place or does the same thing happen as with surgery? Thanks.

Hi Christine. I think clothing sizes depend on where you carry your weight. I'm 5'8 241 pounds and I wear a size 16. When i was at 283 I was in a 22/24.

Type in "Keto diet" or LCHF diet on Pinterest; you will get more than you even thought was possible. Also there are lots of great cookbooks out there. Do the same search and you will find what you are looking for. Good luck! I knew I wasn't going to make it if I had to have eggs every day for breakfast! There are so many other options out there; I found a recipe for pancakes that use coconut, sour cream and flaxseed meal among other things, and then syrup that uses butter, maple extract and stevia drops. I cook the batter up and then have lots of pancakes in the fridge. I store them in a ziplock baggie, and one each morning really fills me up until well past noon. Today, I didn't even think about lunch until about 2 pm. I'd had breakfast at around 8:30 in the morning. I love this diet and all of the people who post recipes and ideas to help others along! Thank you all!

Have you thought that maybe she has lost a ton of fat in her abdominal area, causing her to be able to wear the smaller size whereas you may still be carrying extra abdominal fat?
