What we know about cardiac risk factors

Are you worried about your cholesterol levels on a low-carb diet? Do you want to better understand how to assess other cardiovascular risk factors?

Speaking remotely to the Low Carb Denver 2020 conference in March, Dr. Scher’s video presentation is an “open and honest discussion about what we know and what we don’t know about assessing cardiovascular risk with a low-carb lifestyle.”

Dr. Scher knows what he is talking about. He’s a cardiologist and board-certified lipidologist. His clear and accessible presentation covers how to make sense of various cardiovascular health markers like LDL, HDL, triglycerides, inflammatory markers, abdominal fat, and more.

As Dr. Scher says in the introduction to the video; “I am going to talk about the over-reliance of LDL cholesterol and how relying too much on LDL has hurt us more than it’s helped us, but also I want to explore a little bit about being honest about what we know and what we don’t know about the risks and benefits of LDL.”

Dr. Scher notes that in his 20 years of practice as a cardiologist he has seen nothing better than a ketogenic diet for reducing abdominal fat and improving a patient’s triglyceride to HDL ratio, two very important risk factors for cardiovascular health.
