Jessica Turton, MND, BAS

Dietitian

When I started working as a dietitian in 2017, I saw first-hand just how many people were drowning in conflicting and ineffective nutrition advice. I could see that the standard low-calorie, high-carb dietary approach was not working, and they desperately needed an alternative solution for improving their weight and metabolic health. More recently at our gastroenterology clinic, we have observed patients with inflammatory bowel disease experience remission using a low-carb approach. We have also observed numerous cases of uncomfortable gut symptoms, such as bloating, reflux, constipation and diarrhea, completely resolve within weeks once patients start reducing their intake of carbohydrates. I am also completing a PhD at the University of Sydney investigating the efficacy of low-carbohydrate diets in the management of type 1 diabetes.
