As a gastroenterologist & hepatologist in a large urban hospital I see significant value in educating my patients about diet and its effects on metabolic health. The vast majority of my patients have a poor understanding of macronutrients, the impact of sugar and simple carbohydrates, and nutritional labelling —and as a result have poor metabolic health. Fatty liver disease is a leading cause of cirrhosis; its incidence is rising significantly, burdening individual health and the health care system. It is, however, reversible with dietary counselling and low-carb eating. Thank you Diet Doctor for being a tremendous resource for my patients!
