In my 19 years of clinical practice, nothing has come close to improving health outcomes when treating patients with diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome than therapeutic carbohydrate restriction. From a doctor trained to reach out for the prescription pad for almost all medical problems, I now quite successfully employ and advocate for a more drug-free approach to most chronic health issues. Medicine is a very rewarding profession, and even more so when a half-hour diet counseling session leads to a better outcome than tons of prescription drugs.
