As an interventional cardiologist, I started focusing more on the side of prevention shortly after McAllen was recently named the most obese city in the United States. I quickly became frustrated in regard to the health issues affecting the majority of the population here and for this reason decided to modify my approach from intervention to prevention. Instead of focusing on sick-care I actively focus on health-care aiming to prevent the catastrophic complications of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
