Common questions

Do I have to pay to benefit from this site?
No. The daily blog and all the main guides and recipes and much else is free forever. And all the membership material is free to check out for a month. Should you stay a member for more than one month you are supporting the production of ever more great free material for everyone.

Shouldn’t everything online be free?
The material on the membership pages can not be produced for free. It’s the result of the full-time job of a number of people, as well as costly equipment. However, you can check it all out for free, just cancel within 30 days.

Is the content for beginners or for more experienced people?
Both. There is a lot of content for beginners but also a number of videos, presentations and interviews on more specialized topics.

I already know everything about LCHF, why should I join?
It’s great that you already know so much! The membership site contains knowledge from many of the world’s leading experts, packaged as professionally and simply as possible. Including many things that surprised me even though I thought I knew almost everything already. Additionally, membership fees support the free Diet Doctor site. So you can help other people to learn what you already know.
Finally: you can try it for free.

Couldn’t all this be financed by advertising or sponsorship instead?
No. That would require selling our credibility and we’d never do that. is completely independent from the food and pharmaceutical industries, we don’t accept a penny from them. Not in the past, not now, not in the future. Never.

Do I need a fast internet connection?All new videos are recorded in highest HD quality, so a fast internet connection will give you maximum quality. However, it’s also possible to watch videos in lower resolution if your internet connection is slower. It’s very possible to watch via a modern mobile connection as well. If you can watch videos on YouTube you’re fine.

Why charge in dollars and not Euros or pounds?
Half of the readers on the Diet Doctor site are Americans, more than any other country or region. But it’s fine to join from other places, the cost is automatically exchanged into your currency. E.g. €8.2 or £7.0 (May 2017) if you stay beyond the free month. More currencies

I don’t have the time to watch videos online, could I listen instead?
Sure. It’s very possible to just listen to interviews, presentations etc. while driving a car, walking around or doing something else. We are also providing audio files for the videos.

Sounds like a great idea, but surely not many people will be interested in supporting Diet Doctor with a membership. Isn’t this revolution going to fail?
It’s already working. We launched a more basic membership site on our Swedish site in June 2014 and we were astounded by the support shown. In July 2017 there were over 8,900 Swedish members supporting us – and more are joining every month. This English membership site was launched in April 2015 and passed 1,000 members within days. There are now (July 2017) over 37,000 total members and the number continues to grow rapidly.
We’ll always use every member’s support to the best of our abilities, see the next answer.

What are member fees used for?
Every cent is used for getting closer to our ultimate goal: empowering people everywhere to revolutionize their health.
At this time we’re focused on improving our site to make low carb simple, producing more great content for both members and non-members, as well as on growing our organization and hiring more great people to help out in our cause.
We may be a new and small organization still (12 full-time employees and 20+ part-timers/freelancers/moderators) but we are growing exponentially, thanks to the support of ever more readers and members. Learn more

    We have decided to take the 2 week challenge, starting this coming Monday. We are trying to practice proper eating before we actually start this keto diet. I have looked all over the site and have tried to find the 500 recipes, to no avail. What am I doing wrong? So we went ahead and had 3 small beef fried sausages, one poached egg and some broccoli and cauliflower. Are we in the right mindset?

    just started the challenge and for those like me addicted to dairy and eggs it all looks good until i went to "customize", now struggling big time on day 2, (not used to the lower fiber and volume.) my intuition was to just plug in things like spinach, broccoli, more avocado, kale, chard, cabbage, spring mix but the numbers go really bad quickly on paper of course, my intuition also led to runaway type2 from going vegan for a year.

    Hello. I started the keto diet as a free trial. I loved it so much I decided to join the membership. I have how very only lost about 7 lbs since then which to me seems low. I have been diligent in making sure I do not exceed 20 grams carbs per day. I was in full ketosis (dark purple) for about 3 days last week and suddenly the sticks are showing between negative and trace since. Am I doing something wrong or is this a false negative? Please help me to not be discouraged! Nikki

    Are the receipes affordable? I want to transition my whole family to eating Keto but I’m concerned about affordability with 4 kids, my husband and myself. The hard truth is Food like cereal is cheap and bacon every morning isn’t. I’m aware that this is to our health and benefit but I’m truly on a budget and am wondering the average cost per person eating this meal plan.

    Would love to see a "cleaned up" version of the diet. More greens. Take out the cheese. Healthy fats like avocado. The "high" fat spectrum seems to allow people to "dive" into fats and dairy in the mainstream diet is certainly one of those things that can be removed for optimum health. And as we all ready know most countries over over abundant meat eaters. It's all about cleaning it up and lightening the load, isn't it? Allowing the body to do what nature attended - to heal and thrive.

    # 405 - RE- Nicole: Same here. As well, after the first week, I could NOT face, smell or talk about ANOTHER fat-filled meal, consequently, I stopped eating. I use to love bacon & eggs & now it repulses me. My Ketones have dropped from 8 to 0.5. My weight began at 169.9 lbs, went as low as 156.6, went up to 158 (perhaps because I couldn't stomach eating fat any longer/thus staving myself), finally trying to eat a small steak & small salad. Weighed in this am @ 157.4 with ketones just about non-existent. I am a member now, however can't seem to be able to sign in. Lots of problems getting much needed info. Jill

    I can't find information concernant hypothyroid and keto diet effects.
    My thyroid is well balanced using synthroid medication and I am regularly followed by my doctor for my hypothyroid condition which started with my 1st pregnancy in the 1990's.
    I have a healthy lifestyle that my doctor constantly congratulate me on.
    I can't seem to lose my last 15 pounds unless I eat 1200 calories a day on a regular diet with all food groups involved.
    Will the keto diet affect my thyroid and can it interfere with my medication?
    Looking forward to your answer.
