You Can Learn Anything

After the summer vacation, many people are trying to learn new healthier habits. Often, it works with enough time and motivation.

With enough time and motivation we can learn almost anything. If you’re interested in this – especially if you’re a parent – I recommend the short video above. There are more short videos on the subject at Khan Academy, including an interview with Carol Dweck, who wrote the book Mindset. I recommend this fantastic book to all parents… and others who want to learn something new.

In order to learn something  effectively you have to believe that you can learn. You need a “growth mindset”. It sounds fuzzy, but isn’t. If you don’t believe it, you will for a variety of reasons want to avoid learning opportunities.

So what does efficient learning and development have to do with health? A great deal. If all parents raised their kids on the basis of these ideas, I’m convinced that not only would we get a smarter generation, but they would also manage to learn much healthier habits.

As an old teacher, this short video says it all. Confusion leads to enlightenment.
