A new disturbing report from the American Heart Association finds that the burden of cardiovascular disease in the US outpaces all projections. Or as AHA president Dr. Steven Houser puts it – “the burden of CVD is growing faster than our ability to combat it”:
The risk of heart disease can be lowered with the help of lifestyle interventions and a healthy diet. What constitutes the latter is said to be under debate. But the fact that the problem keeps increasing at an alarming rate is yet another indication that the current high-carb guidelines are not working.
