There’s a great need for this. While there is a lot of free information available online, most of it is hard to trust. Websites are often trying to sell a specific product, a pill for your ill, or push an agenda (or even pure misinformation) for the people funding it.

Real health, however, can’t be found in a pill. And nobody can outrun a bad diet. Unbiased information and free and inspiring tools to revolutionize your health is hard to find. We aim to provide it.

A broken world

Something is badly wrong. While the prosperity of the world has never been higher, people are suffering. More and more people – the majority in the Western world – are obese or overweight, and a high percentage of them on prescription drugs every day for the rest of their lives.

Every year more people are added to the sad statistics. As we get increasingly richer as a society, our health appears to be declining. Why is this?

People feel guilt and shame, as if the excess weight, hunger and tiredness were their fault, a moral failing. They count their calories and attempt to eat less food and exercise more, but it’s not working. If only they had more willpower.

Diabetes type 2 – a new epidemic in the history of humankind – will soon impact 500 million people. The death toll will be enormous, as will the armies of people suffering the consequences: blindness, dementia, heart disease, cancer. This new disease is considered incurable, and the treatment is daily drugs to reduce the symptoms. There is no cure, experts say.

Obesity – another new epidemic that will soon include half the population – is considered almost as incurable. The only effective treatment is said to be bariatric surgery, i.e. surgically removing parts of healthy organs. This operation carries a significant risk of life-long misery and sometimes even death. And a year after surgery, the excess weight usually starts returning.

And even worse, epidemics of obesity and diabetes are just the tip of the iceberg. As these problems spread across the world, other diseases follow closely behind: heart disease, cancer, eating disorders and food addiction, high blood pressure, ADHD, depression and on and on.

Experts still trumpet eating less and exercising more to slow down the epidemics, and they have been advising this for 30 years as the problems have exploded. These recommendations are not working.

It may be even worse. The problem really started to get bad in the early 80s, just when we were told to eat “healthily”, just when the first Dietary Guidelines for Americans were released, and then copied around the world. That’s when the epidemic started.

Possibilities and what’s holding us back

Something is very wrong in the world today. Our bodies are made to stay healthy throughout our lives and supply us with the energy to reach our goals and our potential. We can absolutely return to this natural state. With the resources the world has today there should be no stopping us.

This is not about a lack of willpower. You already have all the willpower you’ll ever need.

Imagine a world where everyone can feel good in his or her body again, where all the children can run and play without having to stop and catch their breath every few steps, where there’s no need for mass pill popping, a nation no longer on drugs, where nobody is obsessively counting calories to starve himself. Where health is normal again. Where we can reach our potential and care for each other. Where we use our willpower for higher purposes, together shaping a better world for our children.

Much of what we need to get there is already known. But it’s not that simple. The food industry profits from selling cheap, low-fat, highly processed, nutritionally depleted and addictive food. And we’re advised to eat at least every three hours. The pharmaceutical industry profits by selling daily medications to temporarily reduce the symptoms of all the diseases caused by the food.

Junk-to-Drugs

These are trillion dollar industries. There’s a lot of money to be made keeping you sick.

The truth is obscured by corporate propaganda, companies selling junk food and pills while using lies and misinformation for the benefit of their shareholders but to the detriment of humanity. It’s obscured by government ineptitude, allowing corporations to rule via armies of highly-paid lobbyists, while relying on old experts who are often stuck in failed preconceptions, unable to update their thinking. That is, if the experts are not simply funded by corporations too.

Just as an example, it was recently exposed how Coca-Cola spends tens of millions of dollars buying the loyalty of government health experts and scientists as well as high-profile bloggers and personal trainers. To not mention the dangers of drinking sugar. To keep quiet about it. That’s the reality behind their slogan about “open happiness” and billions of dollars of feel-good advertising. How are obesity, disease and lies the road to happiness?

It may seem impossible to change this. What can one person do? Not much. But together, using modern tools… if we have the will, we can change anything.

Towards the solution

What would you do if there was a clear way to make the world a better place?

Most of the truth we need is already out there, it is already known, many are already using it with fantastic results. What’s needed is to find this truth and make it as simple as possible to use. To empower people everywhere to revolutionize their health.

This can’t be achieved by using old thinking. We’ll have to question everything. And it can’t be achieved by selling a magic product, a pill or a packaged food product or by financing from the corporations that are profiting from the status quo. That’s the thinking that got us into this mess.

Here at Diet Doctor we want to be a part of the solution. That’s why we’ve decided to take no money from industry. We sell no food, no supplements, no other products and we have no ads.

Instead, we’re fully funded by the people, via an optional membership (free trial available).

We give away for free to the world everything that is necessary, even if someone does not sign up for a membership. We’re focusing on free simple guides, recipes and step-by-step plans, providing everything you need to lose weight without hunger or to cure diabetes type 2.

The solution

The solution to the obesity and diabetes epidemics already exists. It’s very simple:

LCHF Food

That’s basically it. Although there are additional details, if you want to lose weight effortlessly or to reduce your diabetes you should probably make a special effort to drastically reduce the carbohydrates, especially sugar and processed starch (like flour) that you consume.

Natural fat, like butter? Eating that is fine. Red meat? That’s fine too. Calories? That’s just another – bizarre – name for food. Eating real food is perfectly fine, as long as you are hungry. Counting calories and ignoring your hunger is an eating disorder.

Exercise? That’s great for your health and well-being, but it’s never going to make you thin. You cannot outrun a bad diet.

There’s only one long-term solution that is truly effective. Eat real food, when you are hungry.

Why change is so slow

So if the problem is so huge, and the solution already exists – why is the problem not solved already?

TIME: Eat ButterBecause of inertia, old dogma and vested interests. Primarily it’s just hard for us humans to change our minds. It takes time.

The mistaken fear of natural fat is still just alive, like some half-dead zombie – even though modern science has thoroughly disproven it. TIME magazine even put this fact on its cover in 2014. Fearing natural fat leads to even more high-carb, high-sugar junk food – so it’s been a really bad idea.

There is also massive money to be made from the status quo. The entire food and pharmaceutical industries depend on it, and they employ armies of lobbyists and even researchers.

The food industry wants to divert the blame from their bad food (the real problem) to their consumers. That is why they to keep the focus on calorie counting, “personal responsibility” and exercise.

The pharmaceutical industry does not want people to get well. It’s easy to understand why. That would put them out of business.

The government would love to improve the health of the people, but official agencies move slowly and are easy prey for professional lobbyists and influencers. Just look at Michelle Obama’s sadly failed “Let’s Move” campaign. As soon as the junk-food industry got involved, everything turned into empty pep talk, with no real change that anybody truly believes in.

Bringing the solution to the people

    I love Diet Doctor and the fact that I can create my meal plan.

    I have a few suggestions:

    It would be nice to add any meal to any time off the day to play around with the meals, also to have an option to add other recipes like the breads, snacks or the desserts to be able to manage your carb intake for the day.
    It would also be nice to be able to send through to team to add or add recipes (your own) to be able to add it to the recipe list to create your meals - maybe have a bar code scanner.
    Give an option to choose keto or low carb meals not just in search function but as a meal plan option (can then also maybe add the option to select snack and dessert or breads recipes when you start with your weekly meal planning)

    It would also be nice to select the amount of persons for every day/meal, because some meals my kids eat with me but some not.

    Love this website, and love the recipes. Very helpful information.

    I'm doing well myself and putting a lot if effort into spreading the word BUT having diffuculty getting people with tight food budgets to engage with the plan. I'd love to see some emphasis on budget strategies (your budget meal plan was full if prohibitive ingredients): the price of butter us rising, pure cream is expensive, fish is expensive, Kristie cooks with expensive/uncommon mail-order ingredients, the talk on 'quality of food' perpetuates the myth of the absolute necessity of organic/pastured. The people who need this the most are excluded by the cost or rarity of ingredients. Can we hear more about Prof Noakes and taking it to the townships for example?

    I have been on the Keto diet for almost 5 weeks, the first 2 weeks I lost a total of 2.5kg, but since then I have lost nothing :(
    I follow the Keto Meal plans on here - skipping breakfast, then i just have lunch and dinner, no snacks, plenty of water. I literally have not eaten anything Im not suppose to during this time.
    I cant work it out! :(
    I'm really loving the Keto diet, but finding it hard to stay focused when not seeing any results.
    Can someone please give me some tips!

    My husband and I have been on the Keto Diet for 2 1/2 weeks now. Our energy level is way down and we have not lost any weight. We have been very strict as far as using the Keto Recipes, etc. What is the problem? Nancy

    Do you have to use the meal plans listed in the two week challenge. I just started doing this a week ago and I was under the impression to just eat what is listed for meats, veggies, good oils. I have been doing this for a week, eating only when hungry, not eating in between. Doing everything except using the meal plans. I feel great, not hungry, no cravings but haven't loss any weight. I know that takes time.
    Can I continue what I'm doing or do I have to do the meal plans. Think I'm doing everything right except maybe not getting enough fat. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I’m still learning and have only been LCHF for about 2 weeks. Feeling great. My main purpose is to starve cancer cells so I don’t have a reoccurrence of ovarian cancer and hopefully lose some weight as a byproduct.

    Maybe someone can help with my biggest struggle: I work 7p-7a, 3-4 days per week so my metabolism is already shot. What I have been doing is a 24 hour fast on the initial day of work, eat 2 meals in an 8 hour period, then go 16/8 after that. On my last day of work last meal around 2 am and fast until dinner with family that evening (rinse repeat, lol). I do consume a fat bomb and BPC during a typical fast if I get “hungry”.

    Does this need some tweaking? Input welcome.

    Also, I’m mostly shooting for a 15-20 grams NET carbs per day (or during eating time). Is this about right? NET not total! Total remains about 25-30g or higher if my carb intake was from vegetables.

    Hi Guys,

    My wife and I have been following Keto for a while now and have both lost weight and are feeling pretty good. I just wanted to ask if you could include some recipes with a bit of actual flavour, I'm talking specifically the Keto Chinese Pork with Brussel Sprouts. I'm not sure what park of China you are referring to with this recipe, it must be an extremely bland part. There was NO FLAVOUR enhancements in the ingredients apart from tamari soy sauce, garlic and rice vinegar. The sprouts were simply sauted in butter. It was nice but really, this did not live up to the hype of 'Goodbye takeout'. PLEASE give us recipes with flavour....

    I love this site. After watching the videos, especially on insulin and how it inhibits fat burning, I am curious as to why Glycemic Load is not discussed. Why should foods with low GL still be "forbidden" on Ketogenic diets?

    I wanted to thank Dr Fung for his 2 books. I purchased the audio books and finished them both at work.
    Our health care wanted me to lose weight and I tried to do some of the things that the dietitian asked me to do but I was not dropping the weight like they wanted us to.
    So I started doing some of the things Dr Fung talked about in his books.
    I have dropped the weight off and reached the goal of 215 pounds and have maintained my weight for over a year. I fast 2 days a week eat breakfast until the next morning?
    I was doing 3 days a week but was dropping to much weight.
    Our cholesterol leave have dropped.

    Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. I was on the keto diet for around 3 weeks. I was in ketosis all the time, in fact on the fourth colour up. I lost 3kg and could not loose anymore. Can someone please tell me why. I would like to get back onto it, but right now very discouraged.

    Yes....my wife has this as well - we know a number of people with absent gall bladders. My wife finds that she has to spread out the fat as much as possible to give the processing in smaller servings to the body.

    I have been on the LCHF Diet for a week and have lost 2.9kgs which I am so happy about. I just wanted to seek some advice as some people I know who work in the Medical field have informed me that eating a gluten Free diet when you don't suffer from any gluten intolerances. Can anyone shed some light on the issue, if it isn't good for you is there a supplement to take of should I add some gluten to the diet,

    I have been trying to lose 20 pounds for the last 5 years through calorie restriction and exercise. I am a 59 year old female. I operate a horse boarding stable so I am very active! However my weight has been creeping up no matter how much extra exercise I did or how many fewer calories I ate. I began tracking with My Fitness Pal in 2013 but saw no long lasting weight loss.

    Beginning in April 2018 I switched from counting calories to counting carbs and the weight began to fall off! A plateau led me to the Diet Doctor site, at first I set of goal of 40g carbs because I had less that 20 lbs of weight to lose. Then I decided to go full keto and set a goal of 20 g carbs or less per day. Wow, I reached my goal weight in 17 days! I have a great graph my journey that I would love to share but I'm not sure how. It is a dramatic representation of counting calories vs. counting carbs and weight loss.

    I also lost 2.5kg in the first week. Am being very strict and following diet absolutely, at 1300 calories a day. Miss breakfast some days. Lots of water. And in 2 weeks have REGAINED 2 kilos. Clearly this way of eating doesn't work for everyone.

    I have added into my macro tracker the recipe for Keto Garlic Bread @ 20 serves. The macros are actually 3.9g carb per serve (not 1g that you state).
    I have found all your recipe macros vary wildly from macro tracker results. Can you please look into this, I will need to end my subscription as your recipes are not workable for Keto.

    I have a question. I am puzzled as to why, after fasting for sixteen hours, my sugar level seems to rise rather than go down. My last meal was at six pm last night and at bed time my sugar was at 121. I took my evening metformin pill and in the morning took my morning metformin pill. I fasted until noon today and checked my sugar number before lunch, it had risen to 171with nothing to eat or drink in sixteen hours except black coffee. This happens often and is very frustrating. What could cause the reading to go up even though I haven't eaten in sixteen hours?
    On the positive side of things, I have been a type 2 diabetic for twenty years and up to four months ago was injecting 120 units of insulin a day. I have been totally off insulin for three months now with the best blood sugar numbers in years. I have also lost twenty eight pounds in four months on the low carb diet.
    Please respond with an answer to this problem as I don't know what to do about it.

    It would be helpful to make sure the measurements on the recipes and shopping lists make sense for what one is buying or using. For example, on the Keto Chicken Curry Stew, it gives a measurement of "1 1/3 lbs coconut milk." Nobody I know measure coconut milk by the pound, but by ounces. I'm sure there is a calculator somewhere on cyberspace that will make that conversion using the density of coconut milk, but having it in the recipe would be helpful. :)

    I love your site and have been using it for a while. Tonight I went to look up a regular family favourite a chicken stew with lemon and garlic (I think). I can't remember the exact name of the dish and I can't find it!!! We love this meal and would love it if some one could provide the correct name or where I might find it. I have gone through all the meals under chicken twice and still haven't found it. I hope it hasn't been deleted. Recipe used chicken tenderloins if thats a help.
