About Diet Doctor

Regaining health in a sick world requires thinking and acting differently. It requires trusting not in corporate propaganda or old misinformation, but in nature. In the power of your own body to return to its natural state, given the right environment and lifestyle.

Our mission is to find the most trustworthy science and practical knowledge about health that exists, make it inspiring and simple to use, and make it easily available and free. Thus empowering people everywhere to revolutionize their health.

There’s a great need for this. While there is a lot of free information available online, most of it is hard to trust. Websites are often trying to sell a specific product, a pill for your ill, or push an agenda (or even pure misinformation) for the people funding it.

Real health, however, can’t be found in a pill. And nobody can outrun a bad diet. Unbiased information and free and inspiring tools to revolutionize your health is hard to find. We aim to provide it.

Quick facts about Diet Doctor

A broken world

Something is badly wrong. While the prosperity of the world has never been higher, people are suffering. More and more people – the majority in the Western world – are obese or overweight, and a high percentage of them on prescription drugs every day for the rest of their lives.

Every year more people are added to the sad statistics. As we get increasingly richer as a society, our health appears to be declining. Why is this?

People feel guilt and shame, as if the excess weight, hunger and tiredness were their fault, a moral failing. They count their calories and attempt to eat less food and exercise more, but it’s not working. If only they had more willpower.

Diabetes type 2 – a new epidemic in the history of humankind – will soon impact 500 million people. The death toll will be enormous, as will the armies of people suffering the consequences: blindness, dementia, heart disease, cancer. This new disease is considered incurable, and the treatment is daily drugs to reduce the symptoms. There is no cure, experts say.

Obesity – another new epidemic that will soon include half the population – is considered almost as incurable. The only effective treatment is said to be bariatric surgery, i.e. surgically removing parts of healthy organs. This operation carries a significant risk of life-long misery and sometimes even death. And a year after surgery, the excess weight usually starts returning.

And even worse, epidemics of obesity and diabetes are just the tip of the iceberg. As these problems spread across the world, other diseases follow closely behind: heart disease, cancer, eating disorders and food addiction, high blood pressure, ADHD, depression and on and on.

Experts still trumpet eating less and exercising more to slow down the epidemics, and they have been advising this for 30 years as the problems have exploded. These recommendations are not working.

It may be even worse. The problem really started to get bad in the early 80s, just when we were told to eat “healthily”, just when the first Dietary Guidelines for Americans were released, and then copied around the world. That’s when the epidemic started.

Possibilities and what’s holding us back

Something is very wrong in the world today. Our bodies are made to stay healthy throughout our lives and supply us with the energy to reach our goals and our potential. We can absolutely return to this natural state. With the resources the world has today there should be no stopping us.

This is not about a lack of willpower. You already have all the willpower you’ll ever need.

Imagine a world where everyone can feel good in his or her body again, where all the children can run and play without having to stop and catch their breath every few steps, where there’s no need for mass pill popping, a nation no longer on drugs, where nobody is obsessively counting calories to starve himself. Where health is normal again. Where we can reach our potential and care for each other. Where we use our willpower for higher purposes, together shaping a better world for our children.

Much of what we need to get there is already known. But it’s not that simple. The food industry profits from selling cheap, low-fat, highly processed, nutritionally depleted and addictive food. And we’re advised to eat at least every three hours. The pharmaceutical industry profits by selling daily medications to temporarily reduce the symptoms of all the diseases caused by the food.

These are trillion dollar industries. There’s a lot of money to be made keeping you sick.

The truth is obscured by corporate propaganda, companies selling junk food and pills while using lies and misinformation for the benefit of their shareholders but to the detriment of humanity. It’s obscured by government ineptitude, allowing corporations to rule via armies of highly-paid lobbyists, while relying on old experts who are often stuck in failed preconceptions, unable to update their thinking. That is, if the experts are not simply funded by corporations too.

Just as an example, it was recently exposed how Coca-Cola spends tens of millions of dollars buying the loyalty of government health experts and scientists as well as high-profile bloggers and personal trainers. To not mention the dangers of drinking sugar. To keep quiet about it. That’s the reality behind their slogan about “open happiness” and billions of dollars of feel-good advertising. How are obesity, disease and lies the road to happiness?

It may seem impossible to change this. What can one person do? Not much. But together, using modern tools… if we have the will, we can change anything.

Towards the solution

What would you do if there was a clear way to make the world a better place?

Most of the truth we need is already out there, it is already known, many are already using it with fantastic results. What’s needed is to find this truth and make it as simple as possible to use. To empower people everywhere to revolutionize their health.

This can’t be achieved by using old thinking. We’ll have to question everything. And it can’t be achieved by selling a magic product, a pill or a packaged food product or by financing from the corporations that are profiting from the status quo. That’s the thinking that got us into this mess.

Here at Diet Doctor we want to be a part of the solution. That’s why we’ve decided to take no money from industry. We sell no food, no supplements, no other products and we have no ads.

Instead, we’re fully funded by the people, via an optional membership (free trial available).

We give away for free to the world everything that is necessary, even if someone does not sign up for a membership. We’re focusing on free simple guides, recipes and step-by-step plans, providing everything you need to lose weight without hunger or to cure diabetes type 2.

Welcome to Diet Doctor. Let us tell you more about reality and some of the misconceptions that stop people from achieving health and happiness.

The solution

The solution to the obesity and diabetes epidemics already exists. It’s very simple:

That’s basically it. Although there are additional details, if you want to lose weight effortlessly or to reduce your diabetes you should probably make a special effort to drastically reduce the carbohydrates, especially sugar and processed starch (like flour) that you consume.

Natural fat, like butter? Eating that is fine. Red meat? That’s fine too. Calories? That’s just another – bizarre – name for food. Eating real food is perfectly fine, as long as you are hungry. Counting calories and ignoring your hunger is an eating disorder.

Exercise? That’s great for your health and well-being, but it’s never going to make you thin. You cannot outrun a bad diet.

There’s only one long-term solution that is truly effective. Eat real food, when you are hungry.

Why change is so slow

So if the problem is so huge, and the solution already exists – why is the problem not solved already?

TIME: Eat ButterBecause of inertia, old dogma and vested interests. Primarily it’s just hard for us humans to change our minds. It takes time.

The mistaken fear of natural fat is still just alive, like some half-dead zombie – even though modern science has thoroughly disproven it. TIME magazine even put this fact on its cover in 2014. Fearing natural fat leads to even more high-carb, high-sugar junk food – so it’s been a really bad idea.

There is also massive money to be made from the status quo. The entire food and pharmaceutical industries depend on it, and they employ armies of lobbyists and even researchers.

The food industry wants to divert the blame from their bad food (the real problem) to their consumers. That is why they to keep the focus on calorie counting, “personal responsibility” and exercise.

The pharmaceutical industry does not want people to get well. It’s easy to understand why. That would put them out of business.

The government would love to improve the health of the people, but official agencies move slowly and are easy prey for professional lobbyists and influencers. Just look at Michelle Obama’s sadly failed “Let’s Move” campaign. As soon as the junk-food industry got involved, everything turned into empty pep talk, with no real change that anybody truly believes in.

Thank you so much for creating such a great site. It's too simple!
Pick your meals for the week, a grocery list is provided and recipes to make.
Although I already lost 70 pounds doing low carb, after a year of doing the same ole recipes
its nice to find a site that provides more menu options.
Switching to Keto to lose my last 30 pounds will be a breeze thanks to Diet Doctor.

    Hi Gabriella,

I want to know would it be advisable to start my friend on low carb and low fat ...

Seriously, I don't think it is your place to put your friend on any diet, nor is it the place of her doctor really. Encourage your friend to take ownership of her own health - to form her own opinions about the validity of dietary approaches. Give her the resources to learn and decide what she is willing to do. Give her encouragement to think for herself. To be successful on LCHF, it takes a certain amount of courage to go your own way - to treat your body as your own personal science experiment. I would be cautious about putting anyone else on a diet other than yourself. Maybe you didn't exactly mean it that way. Just lift her up, guide her to resources, and then be a good friend regardless of what she chooses to do.

Hi, would it be possible to supply information like hba1c and glucose in the format that we use in Britain as I don’t understand. Could you possibly put this in brackets beside each result.
  5. Steffi
I have a question for celiacs. I have been diagnosed some days ago with celiac disease. However, doctors need to confirm it with a gastroscopy in some months. They want to keep me eating gluten until then but I would like to go low carb again asap. Can I go low carb and still eat enough gluten to have a positive result on the biopsy? What would be the minimum gluten to eat?

Is there anyone that can please answer my questions. I have been looking everywhere and have not found an answer yet. Is it ok to add Crystal Light to your water while on a Keto diet + Intermittent Fasting? An answer would be awesome!

Hi. I am so thankful for the site and member features. This has really taken the stress out of meal planning for my family. I am down 21 lbs in 8 weeks. My sugar levels are down and my energy is so high. I no longer have low blood sugar problems. My body is changing in a really good way. My weight loss has slowed down to a crawl and I am working hard to tweak my meal plan so I can continue to lose weight. I love the pre-made meal plans, and the ability to alter them but it would be cool if we could build our own from the start. Just a suggestions for future changes. Thank you again for all that you do!

The recipes show how many grams of Carb there is in each meal but is that Net Carb or just Carb and is that per serving or the whole dish.

  9. Laurine
I read the Top 10 tips to lose weight on the Diet Doctor site and would like to know what recipes to follow to keep protein consumption down to 1.5g per ever kilogram of weight. When I do the math this comes out, for me, to about 5 oz of protein a day. I would like to stick to just the recipes provided by Diet Doctor but all have single servings with more than 5 g of protein. Now if I cut the protein down and also endeavor to keep fats down per the Top 10 tips what should I eat so as not to become hungry? Related to my questions I think it would be great if you and your team could come up with a 2 week meal plan for persons who need to reduce protein consumption and not go overboard on fat. Thanks so much.

    Hello Dr. Andreas,

Firstly, thank you very much for all your very informative videos and instruction. I just started Keto diet and already lost 6 kgs. Thank you!

Secondly, what is your opinion in using Balsamic vinegar for salad dressing? I usually make olive oil, white balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper for my green salad. Is this Keto? Will it stop Ketosis?

Also, I had hypertension in the past years and in the last 2 years, I have been controlling my food and always have salad and meat or pasta or rice with fish and a lot of fruits (no juice). So, its not a keto diet but its a 3 meals per day with light snacks. My last medical examination in January, my doctor was so surprised to see the results as it has improved dramatically especially the Cholesterol Quotient, LDL, HDL, sugar, etc... But he highly recommends that I should lose 5 to 8 kgs if I can. So I discovered Keto Diet and found your videos and website. As I no longer consume carbs, I have been consuming more meat and fats than I used to do. Unfortunately, after a week of trying to follow LCHF diet, I started to feel discomfort around my chest. I checked my BP 138/95 and heart rate going beyong 100bpm. Therefore, I decided to take additional medication for my heart and cut down on my fats and shifted to fish and salads only for 3 days and now I felt much better.

I understood from watching your videos that we cannot have overdose of fats but we just need to consider that "a colorie is a colorie" to be avoided if I want to lose weight. BUT it did not say that it can be dangerous. Or did I misunderstand your message? Or did I do anything wrong?

    Thank you very much!

I placed a message a few days ago and it seems to have disappeared. I've been diagnosed with a big gallstone and need surgery. I like eating low carb but have been advised to avoid fat. Is it possible to continue with this diet? Apparently gallstones are caused by most diets especially if you have quick weightloss and fasting is not recommended with this issue. Any professional advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I dont have medical, or economics knowledges to tell this is absolutely the right diet, nor do I have weight issues as such.
I have only been trying to keep body and mind healthy and attractive.

Since I have started this diet , I feel so much better, more energetic, digestive troubles forgotten , even pleasure to eat, body is feeling as it used to feel , no more swollen arm, legs, belly, face.
I am happy with my food and my body. This has never been achieved on the low fat diet I have been following all my life.

I would simply say: give it a try and see if it fits you .

Thank you to Diet Doctor for all the usefull information they provide , your site is fabulous .

Please cancel my subscription. It is amazing for thousands, definitely, not for me. This is my 3rd attempt and I ended again gaining 6 pound and increasing my colesterol from 189 to 345 in a month. Beside, my trans. are on the roof.
    God Luck to everyone.

Miguel - I'm sorry, but Crystal Light is not healthy at all! It technically has no calories, but is artificially sweetened by Aspartame (also known as Nutraswee) a very unhealthy chemical linked to headaches, cravings, even Alzheimer's. I'd eliminate it, and any diet soda immediately!
It's best to try and learn to avoid all sweeteners, soon you will stop craving it. I now love coolwater with fresh lime or lemon squeezed in, I also love sparkling water, flavored sparkling water, iced tea, iced coffee, etc. After a week or so without sweeteners or fruit I don't miss them and I'm losing weight so easily that I am motivated not to seek sweetness. Now I love meat, veggies, butter, avacados, nuts, etc.
Best of luck to you my friend!

Hi! Just a thought on a new recipe. I LOVE egg drop soup. It's really simple and fits right into keto as long as you leave the cornstarch out.

I am not a big fan of just plain bacon and eggs in the morning and therefore was just skipping breakfast when I started keto. I found myself needing to drink cups of broth to get rid of headaches and feel satisfied.
Having egg drop soup for breakfast took care of my headaches and kept my carbs low.

I make it with chicken broth (better than bouillon or homemade), sesame oil, soy sauce, and eggs. Sometimes a few little chive slices on top. It's pretty filling, and in my opinion, super yummy.

Is there a problem with the 'build a meal plan'??? It gives me the 'button' to add a meal but absolutely nothing happens. My sis has not been able to use this since the 'new website' and I believe she has cancelled her membership because of this. Is there a reason? I do not want predetermined meals and it is not worth paying for the service if I cannot access the 'Ingredients Shopping List' as one item. Otherwise I have to print every recipe and do it all separately.Let me know when you can, thanks.

I started on LCHF in summer 2016 and by summer 2017 I'd lost 5.5 stone (about 75lbs) but since then my weight has just gone up and down a few lbs. Now I can't get below 14.5 stone (about 200lbs) in fact I've been between 14.5 and 15 for months but I'm not doing anything different. I have about 10-14 lbs of hanging skin and a doctor once told me that my natural body weight would be about 13-13.5 stone (180 -190lbs).
I want to get below 180 (13 stone) but I'm getting frustrated!
    Ideas please folks?

    Hi Miguel,

Crystal Light has sucralose which is very bad for your health. It is hard on the liver. Better try a more natural flavoring i.e. lemon on your water to spice it up. This is what I do and I like my water better. Helps me to drink the necessary amount of water a day.

Clive have you ever thought about being a living donor
you could donate a kidney, partial liver, maybe an eye
you could lose around 5 pounds easily while helping other people
so it's a win win situation
make you drink lots of Crystal Light and vodka if you donate most of your liver
don't forget the more liver they take ,the more weight you will lose
so make sure they get most of it
    I've got your back,buddy
