Ingredients

  • 12 (7 oz.) 12 (190 g) pieces of green asparagus
  • 2 oz. 55 g prosciutto, in thin slices
  • 5 oz. 140 g goat cheese
  • ¼ tsp ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp olive oil
This recipe has been added to the shopping list.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (225°C), preferably with the broiler function on.
  2. Wash and trim the asparagus.
  3. Slice the cheese into as many pieces as asparagus, and then divide each slice in two.
  4. Cut the slices of prosciutto in two pieces lengthwise and wrap each piece around one asparagus and two pieces of cheese.
  5. Place in a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Add pepper and drizzle with olive oil.
  6. Broil in the oven for about 15 minutes until golden brown.

Tip!

Make it your way! This recipe leaves the asparagus crisp-tender. If you prefer your asparagus on the softer side, go ahead and parboil them for a minute or two.

Where do you find the carb, calorie, fat counts for a serving?
  4. Darren
I have a similar question as Rhonda. I see the fat/protein/carb counts per recipe however I don't see the calorie count per serving.

Delicious although next time I will use thicker asparagus spears. 15 minutes at 450 is far too long for thin asparagus so I took them out at 10 minutes and they were still a little overdone, although the cheese and proscuitto were just getting there. Tastes like a treat though!

This is fantastic! My family loved it, and it is easy to make. It is relatively expensive--it cost me about $20 for all the ingredients at the local grocery. However, I'm sure the cost would come down significantly if I shopped at Costco for the ingredients.

Hi there, For me the temperature was FAR too hot. Surely this should be cooked at 180 degrees celsius?

I’ve also seen other recipes use cream cheese. I was going to try Brie tonight, but had a technical difficulty, so can’t say if it would work

Can I substitute the prosciutto for bacon?

Bacon tends to be much thicker and would require a longer cooking time, which may burn the asparagus. Prosciutto is a much thinner and more delicate cut of meat.

We have not tested this recipe with pepper jack but if you prefer that taste then it should work fine.

Love this... made it before starting Keto... if you cook it under the grill instead of in the oven, don't par boil the asparagus.... I use 3 asparagus, Parma ham and a slice of camembert, turn regularly during cooking... the camembert does start to melt quickly, but the asparagus is lovely and crispy and it only takes a few minutes under a med/high grill to cook it.
