Many popular diets are a type of detox diet , while others follow a more nutritionally sound approach. Some other well known diet plans that many people are talking about today are diets like the Flat Belly Diet, which was published in a book in 2008 by the editor of Prevention . This diet claims that by following its principles and meal plans you can lose weight and lose fat, but it specifically claims that you can lose belly fat. It starts out with a 4-day “jump start” called an “anti-bloat” period, designed at getting you used to the diet. It’s also supposed to noticeably make your belly look smaller, in just 4 days.
Other famous diet plans include things like the Zone, the South Beach Diet, the Rice Diet, the GI Diet and the Dean Ornish Diet, just to name a handful. The Zone and the South Beach Diet follow similar principles, in that it’s the combinations of foods you eat more than the foods themselves that seems to make a difference for dieters. While carbohydrates are a little more restricted on both diets than they might be in a regular diet, they stress the ratio of carbs to protein and fat in every meal.
The Zone is more specific about exactly how to portion out your meals and snacks, insisting that it’s the ratio that makes it work. The South Beach Diet is more like a lower-carb diet in general, with a little less emphasis on ratios. The Rice Diet was actually invented for people who needed to lose large amounts of weight for their health. During the program, people stay at the facility and are monitored very carefully. But the diet itself can be followed by anyone, as it’s just a low-fat and very low-salt diet, based on the principle that too much sodium causes many weight problems, as well as too much fat. While the Dean Ornish diet, created to reverse the effects of heart disease, is a vegetarian diet filled with only grains, fruits, and egg whites, and no fat dairy products. This diet is 70% carbohydrate and only about 10% fat.
