Diet Pills
A Guide to Pills for Dieting
Dieting fads have become the mainstay of the world in present times. Our lifestyle has something to do with it. Most of us are so busy with our work that we are not able to invest ourselves in exercise, though we want to do it. Also, most people work out of a chair for the whole day, which is definitely not good for their systems. It is certainly no wonder then that people are beginning to use methods such as diet pills for keeping healthier.

Let us take a look at how these diet pills, also known as weight loss pills work.
The first thing we need to see is what these diet pills are actually. There are basically two types of diet pills, the prescription ones and the nonprescription ones. The prescription diet pills are those that are available only upon a doctor’s prescription. These diet pills contain synthetic chemical compounds which have been tested by the FDA. The nonprescription diet pills are generally herbal products which have not been tested by the FDA yet.
You must remember that if something has been tested by FDA, it does not mean it is approved also. Most diet pills have been found to produce some or the other kinds of side-effects on the human body. People who consume these slimming pills complain of digestive problems, flatulence, allergic reactions, muscle cramps, heart palpitations and such other problems. That is precisely the reason why these pills need to be taken upon prescription. An overstepped dosage could also lead to severe health complications, including death. One of the most popular prescription diet drugs used today is phentermine .
The nonprescription diet pills include mostly herbs such as ephedra , hoodia, St. John’s Wort, etc. These supplements are known for their benefits for weight loss which is brought about in a variety of ways. Some of these herbs can increase the assimilation of calories in the body. Some of these herbs, like hoodia, can reduce the appetite of a person so that he or she tends to eat less. Due to these reasons, these herbs are considered to be effective in making weight loss supplements.
However, a weight loss pill that contains only natural herbs should also not be considered to be completely safe. The effects of hoodia are still being researched and nothing conclusive has been released yet. Ephedra is particularly dangerous because it is known to cause rapid heartbeats in people. For all these reasons, it becomes important to seek medical advice before consuming these alternative diet pills too.
Most people prefer using healthier alternatives to diet pills if they can manage it. Yoga has become quite popular in order to improve the metabolism of the body. Among other things, a healthier metabolism helps keep the body fitter and trimmer. Some people practice running preferably early in the morning and invest in such other personal fitness tools in order to lose weight or to merely keep healthy. Due to the shroud of mystery and apprehension surrounding diet pills, these alternative methods seem to be a better option for most people.
